Practical yet dainty, this short-vest and pantie set is made in 2-ply wool.
Materials
5 oz. knitting wool, 2-ply, (2 oz. for vest, 3 oz. for panties.)
Ribbon for shoulder straps.
Elastic for waist of panties.
A pair each Nos. 9 and 13 knitting needles.
A medium crochet hook.
Measurements
Vest:
Length from centre front to lower edge, 18 1/2 in (47cm).
Bust to fit, 32-34 in (81-86cm).
Panties:
Back length to top of leg, 15 in (38cm).
Front length to top of leg, 13 1/2 in (34.25cm).
Width all round at widest part, 38 in (96.5cm).
Tension
Using No. 9 needles, 7 sts. to 1 in (2.5cm).
The Vest
The Front:
** With No. 9 needles, cast on 110 st.
Rib. - K2, * P1, K1. Rep. from * to end. This one row forms the K1, P1 rib. Work 1 in. (2.5cm), inc. in last st. of last row. (111 st.)

Work in K1, P1, rib, inc. 1 st. at beg. of every row until 44 st. are on the needle, then dec. 1 st. each end of every 4th row until 2 st. again.
Cast off.
To Make Up:
Press the knitting (except the ribbing) on wrong side, using hot iron over damp cloth.
Stitch the brassiere tops to front vest.
Sew side seams of vest.
Fold gusset in half, and stitch to backs and fronts of panties, with the long edge to the back.
Sew back and front seams.
With medium crochet hook, work an edging of 1 d.c. 4 ch., into every 4th st. or row all round top of vest.
Work beading for elastic at top of panties on wrong side of work, thus:
1 d.c. 7 ch. into top of waist ribbing, 1/4 in. (0.6cm) below top, and 1 d.c. 7 ch. 3/4 in. (1.9cm) below top. Rep. this all round in a zig-zag. Thread elastic and secure ends.
Sew ribbon shoulder straps to vest.
Press all seams.
